31 / 08 / 2026

This year, Ukraine will participate for the third time in the LIBER International Book Fair, the largest professional book fair for the Spanish and Latin American book markets. The event attracts more than 6,500 visitors from 13 countries every year.

LIBER 2026 will take place from 29 September to 1 October.
📍 Venue: Fira Barcelona Gran Via

At the Ukrainian national stand, 17 publishers will present their books, including Rodovid, Folio, Literary Gate, Mountain Mill, Krokus, Bohdan, AntyVydavnytstvo, Chas Zmin Inform, The Old Lion Publishing House, Creative Publishing, Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Vilnyi Viter, Zhorzh, A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA, Ranok, Kalamar and Rada.

Participation in LIBER provides Ukrainian publishers with an opportunity to present new titles to an international professional audience, establish contacts with foreign publishers and literary agents, hold B2B meetings, and seek partners for the acquisition of translation rights to Ukrainian books.

The fair is also an important platform for strengthening ties with the Spanish-language book market and with publishing professionals from South and Central America, for whom Spain serves as a key professional hub.

In addition to the national stand, two professional events dedicated to Ukrainian literature, its presence in Spain, and prospects for international cooperation will take place at LIBER on 30 September. The events are organised with the support of Centro Cultural Ucraniano.

📚 “La palabra luchadora: la herencia literaria revolucionaria de España y Ucrania” (The Fighting Word: The Revolutionary Literary Heritage of Spain and Ukraine)
📍 30 September, 10:00–10:50 | Room 1.3 – CC1

The discussion will feature Alina Petryk, translator, and Yulia Plokha, philologist, translator and writer. The discussion will be moderated by Abel Riu, political scientist and journalist.

The participants will discuss the shared features of the cultural and linguistic heritage of Ukraine and Catalonia, literary processes of the interwar period, including the Executed Renaissance, as well as the role of literature and translation in fostering cultural dialogue between Ukraine and Spain.

📚 “El libro ucraniano en España: las traducciones, colaboraciones y horizontes nuevos” (Ukrainian Books in Spain: Translations, Collaborations and New Horizons)
📍 30 September, 17:30–17:55 | Ágora – Hall 1

The round table will bring together Oksana Holiak, philologist and translator; Andriy Antonovskyi, artist and translator; María Martín Herzog, representative of Barbara Fiore Editora; and other participants. The event will be moderated by Carles Torner, Doctor of Education and writer.

The round table will explore the current presence of Ukrainian books in the Spanish-speaking market, the history and challenges of Ukrainian-Spanish and Ukrainian-Catalan literary translation, and new opportunities for publishing cooperation and the promotion of Ukrainian literature in Spain.

Ukraine’s national stand at LIBER 2026 is organised by the Ukrainian Book Institute, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Spain, Consulate General of Ukraine in Barcelona, and Centro Cultural Ucraniano.
