In February 2025, the Ukrainian Book Institute sent a request to each territorial community regarding their book purchases for public libraries in 2024, as well as their planned acquisitions for 2025. A total of 1,258 letters were sent to communities not affected by active hostilities. We received 942 responses, representing three-quarters of all communities.
The Ukrainian Book Institute presented the detailed statistics at the roundtable discussion "Libraries as a Response to Community Challenges" on March 25.

Ukrainian Book Market on the Rise: +31% in Publisher Revenue and 33 Million Copies in a Year.
In 2024, Ukraine’s publishing industry showed clear signs of recovery: publisher revenue increased by 31% compared to 2023, and the total annual print run grew by 21%. More than 350 publishers are currently active in Ukraine. Books are available in approximately 800 brick-and-mortar bookstores and 80 online shops. The total market volume is estimated at 8 billion UAH — roughly 200 million USD. In 2024, a total of 15,601 book titles were published with a combined print run of 33.315 million copies.
