For the implementation of the UBI 2021 annual work plan (Clause 3.3, Sub-Clause 3.3.1) and pursuant to the Clause 9-1 on the procedure of the use of funds, envisaged in the state budget for the Ukrainian Book Institute’s support of book publishing and Ukrainian literature promotion abroad, approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 12 June 2019 No. 638, the UBI developed technical requirements for book projects on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine and wrote a cover letter to the MCIP about the announcement of the art contest of book projects on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine (UBI’s letter No. 15-004/88 dated 1 March 2021).

For the participation in the MCIP art contest, 48 applications and 164 book projects were submitted.

UBI’s experts engaged by the MCIP contest commission on a common basis conducted expertise of book projects and made relevant recommendations and conclusions.

Based on the results of the art contest and the Order of the MCIP dated 12 August 2021 No. 646, the list of winners was approved — 126 book projects from 43 publishers. The approved list and all the materials of the winners of the MCIP art contest were submitted to the UBI for negotiations and signing of purchase agreements with the winners of the art contest (MCIP’s letter No. 9788/5.11.2 dated 17 August 2021).

Groups of technical characteristics were formed based on the types of publications in order to monitor expense estimates of the winners of the art contest. Monitoring of the book projects was conducted.

The UBI formed and approved the list of recipients of the works of Ukrainian literature published on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine to the total of 26 recipients (regional libraries and libraries of the city of Kyiv) (Order of the UBI dated 9 September 2021 No. 68-оd).

Negotiations were conducted. The UBI signed 109 agreements on rendering services of preparation, publishing and delivery of the publication of the Ukrainian literature work.

The UBI verified 108 layouts of the works of Ukrainian literature according to the terms of the agreement.

In November-December 2021, accounting documents for the implemented projects were accepted and processed, and payments were made.
