“Books Without Borders”: where to find Ukrainian books abroad
“Books Without Borders”: where to find Ukrainian books abroad
28 / 07 / 2022

Dear friends! It has been several months since the launch of the “Books Without Borders” project of the Ukrainian Book Institute (UBI) under the patronage of First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine (MCIP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA)

We are pleased that in spite of everything, the UBI’s efforts are not futile, the project covers more and more countries, and recently continents. Although the Armed Forces of Ukraine are fighting against Russian invaders with the incredible power, Ukraine is still a dangerous place to live, which is why many Ukrainian families with children are forced to stay far away from their homes, regular life and things dear to their hearts. In particular, books.

In order to facilitate access to Ukrainian books for those Ukrainians who are currently abroad, we have created a number of visual memos. Each of them is dedicated to a certain country, and one can find information accumulated by the UBI and the MFA of Ukraine. In such a way, depending on where you are now, you just have to find a link with the relevant country and download the document to your computer or take a photo with your phone.

️ In case you do not find your country in the list, take our universal advice: go to the local library! In general, they respond eagerly to readers’ needs.

Should the local library of the town or city you live in be willing to purchase Ukrainian books, please use the UBI’s recommendations as to the book selection, which you may find here.

Otherwise, keep in mind that there are many initiatives of the Ukrainian authorities and activists, aimed at providing Ukrainians with books in their native tongue. Please, find below links to some projects that you could use to get Ukrainian books.

? "Ukrainian Books for Ukrainian Children!"

This project was initiated by the The State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine jointly with the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine. More information here.
